Attention Ladies: Elaine's Bunion Corrected by 17 Degrees

In this short video, I talk through Elaine's bunion correction using Foot Mobilisation Therapy (FMT): a 17-degree change, achieved naturally.

Why it's worth treating a bunion

Bunions affect one in three New Zealanders. They're usually (but not always) painful, and they generally lead to osteoarthritis in the big toe joint. Many people also find their shoe choices shrinking as the bunion grows.

We recommend treating bunions as early as possible. The sooner the bunion is treated, the better the long-term results.

How we straighten bunions without surgery

Every bunion correction at our Tauranga clinic follows the same steps:

  1. A hands-on assessment and x-ray so we can measure your bunion angle. A normal angle is between 12 and 15 degrees.
  2. A course of FMT, which gently guides the joints back into position, combined with strengthening exercises to support the change.
  3. A follow-up x-ray so you can see the result for yourself.
